Deanne Kentz — Since my last post, there have been some changes more bad than good.
I was unable to visit my family in 2024 so I was able to make it this past Thanksgiving, I mean actually on Thanksgiving 2025.

I do not have anything bad to say about the very very nice 3 women at the Memory Lawn side, these women... Read more were all basically new when I went for my visit. These women have the entire world sitting on their shoulders trying so hard to get things done that obviously have been ignored for years!!
I want to say thank you to all the 3 of you for doing what you have been and I just hope you can get through the mess.

Now as I said, I was there ON Thanksgiving and was SHOCKED WITH WHAT I SAW.
People had strung lights through the trees which were from Halloween, having a complete family dinner along side the grave sites, drinking hard liquor which has become so extremely popular and nothing done about it, children running around like they were in a park, more picket fences surrounding grave sites, head stones that were acceptable at one time on the Greenwood side, CUSTOM MADE CROSSES THAT STAND ABOUT 6'-7', more trees being planted next to the graves (not acceptable and in a few years, their family member will almost be able to sit up and says hello due to the tree roots people), music is still being played, peddle cart merchants selling their 'faith' candles, Madonna, Rosaries, candles left unattended still burning (dry grass people, it's called FIRE)

The grass is becoming a whole lot greener and is actually grass and not weeds, thank you 'N'. Due to the age of the trees, they are having to be cut down; yes, trees die like people do but it is not your job to plant one in place of the ones that are being cut down.

People are allowed to decorate the grave sites for holidays, birthdays a week before and must be cleared the week after. IT'S IN THE RULES PEOPLE.

Peoples speeding through, so be sure you look both ways.

There are still a number issues which need to be done in the Mausoleum which I have addressed to those who need to know.
The problem still exists that letters, numerals, wreaths are falling of the crypts. This has been a constant issue now for years. These issues include not only my family, but yours too.
Be sure to bring your own cleaning products to polish the granite.

One of the ladies in the Memory Lawn office was FINALLY ALLOWED TO COMPLETELY REPLACE THE EVAP SYSTEM IN THE MAUSOLEUM...WAY TO GO 'N'!!!

The complaints that many of you have are extremely valid. This is really going to read harsh, but since the newer purchasers, which everyone has the right to place their loved ones where they want, the cemeteries have had to
1. lock the doors to the mausoleum so one must go to the memory office and request to be let in
2. 24/7 security has had to be arranged so the unwanted are kept out of the cemeteries and especially sleeping in the mausoleum.

I am still on my vision quest to get things done by allowing a larger budget for those who are working so hard to make things better but you can help too.

Write your complaints to SCI-Dignity headquartered in Houston TX. The more complaints, the more you'll be helping those who are just trying to do their jobs.

If you're not getting something that you were promised or paid for to be done i.e. serenity bench, look for an attorney to possibly get involved. There are litigators who specialize in funeral home malpractice. Just make sure that if it is a legal matter, you get it done within 2 yrs of the issue. AZ only allows 2 years to for legal claims to get to court if necessary.

Google SCI-Dignity Houston TX, research their lawsuits, almost $209 million 2025 in AZ alone. If you have family in other cemeteries that were maintained beautifully and no longer look like anyone cares, check to see if SCI Dignity has taken over. Family owned funeral homes that are in financial problems are sucked up by SCI Dignity ALL OVER THE COUNTRY AND OVER SEAS.

After everything I have gone through since 2020, I have learned a lot and it is a 'if I had only known what to do' situation. You can't do a whole lot for the loved ones who are there now, but you can help the love ones you have now and yourself...be ready. Look for a funeral home that is privately owned, law suits, anything that you are concerned about to avoid these disappointments. Read less

Deanne Kentz — My family members started to purchase plots/crypts since the 1950s when Memory Lawn was starting up. I also have many family members sleeping at Greenwood right next door.

This next statement is to help Mr Arellano and anybody else who feels like this to help understand that there are rules and regulations... Read more which are actually stated within or provided when you have signed your contract.

I am sure that there are many many people who feel as you do, but there are reasons for these rules. The most important is respect for other families. When it comes to cemeteries, there are many so many different beliefs, memories, and emotions that every family member has for their loved one as well as themselves. Understandable, but again it has to do with respect for everybody else.

Yes sir, all of the balloons, cheap little angels, Christmas items, flowers whether fake or real, fencing around a gravesite, planting of trees and the like interfere with another family's rights or whatever does not fall under the required rules are for everybody. The rules are not to make you feel like there is not an understanding for your feelings or any other person.

These rules are for everybody, not just you Mr Arellano.

I had to place my Mother in her forever bedroom within the Mausoleum June 2020. The carpeting was the exact same carpet that had been on that floor since my Grandfather had entered his forever bedroom in the 1980s. The cooling system was dripping right in front of my Uncle's bedroom and he's not even using it right now nor my Aunt.
I personally had never seen this cemetery is such a horrid condition and that includes the decorations on grave sites, in the Mausoleum, the beyond ugly dried grass in over 20+ years until June 2020.
Can you imagine what would happen if any of these religious candles were to fall over with these conditions? Guess who would be blamed once the fire dept was able to determine WHERE EXACTLY THE FIRE STARTED? It's not going to be the cemetery except for allowing someone to place such an item. Buildings would even go up in flames and my Mother is in a bedroom, not an oven.
If you want to blame anyone, you can blame me for no longer being able to place what is very tacky and disrespectful, not the management.
The ONLY problem with any person you should blame for conditions in Management is the previous grounds manager. HE FAILED TO KEEP THE GROUNDS AND RULES IN PLACE and the person who is managing the grounds now has held this current position with other cemeteries and things will be or are changing as well as doing everything possible to bring it all back to the beautiful serene place to meditate with family members.
The changes are not going to be seen immediately due to the very inadequate budget being provided to this person.
How would you feel Mr Arellano, if you were having a service or visiting a loved one and found a person or persons so drunk near your loved one that the person couldn't even standup or speak without slurring their language? Playing music so loud it can be heard the moment you drive through the gate? Well, I experienced that the week of February 14 2022 when I came to visit my Mother after driving over 16 hours from TX.
This person was right outside the doors of the Mausoleum. This person had placed silk roses in the ground completely surrounding the gravesite of their family member, burning religious candles, and absolutely HUGE flower arrangements; more like something that one would have at a wedding.
Mr Arellano, you paid for the upkeep of your family member's gravesite by the groundskeepers. The reason things look so bad, the grounds workers can not do their jobs. At one point, we could not even find our Great Grandparent's graves because they were covered with MUD due to others being buried around them and the dirt not being removed from their headstone afterward. This too was overlooked by the previous manager.

Anyone reading maybe wondering why I stated that you can blame me for the enforcement of these rules and I will be very honest and upfront. These items cheapen sacred grounds, being drunk in a cemetery is not the place to 'drown your sorrows' go to a bar or home for that.
I am the person who went straight to the top with Dignity and IT HAS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO DO WITH THE NEW GROUNDS MANAGER WHO TOOK OVER THIS JOB THE EXACT SAME WEEK I WAS THERE IN FEBRUARY!!

I am also the person who informed Dignity to get their act together about the grounds being so dry that the grass was beyond combustible like a wild fire. I even explained to them how to water the grass during the summer season so it would be green as well as seeding with winter rye. I am a 2nd generation Arizonan and my Mother would never allow our yard to be anything but green so we kids could play all year round.

The grounds had begun to be watered and becoming green again until this last visit with my Mother. Sir, I do not mess around when it comes to the sanctity for others such as you; this includes letters and numerals missing on the forever bedrooms, the condition of the buildings. The new management has assigned people to actually start at the top, check all of the granite facings, find the name of the person in the data base as well as having to go through the very outdated but still used rolodex system when A.L. Moore owned Memory Lawn.
All headstones will be inspected, any damage will be taken care of or be replaced if possible. All of the flower beds will soon have beautiful flowers again.

My 4 page letter very explicit and direct to Dignity has placed these issues upfront. I did this for everybody and promised those in their forever bedrooms that they were not forgotten and that I would get everything replaced and set right. Perhaps they no longer have any family to make sure that they are being cared for and not forgotten. I am doing the same for everyone outside of the Mausoleum.
Just so people know, these rules will be more obvious within the grounds. If you do not adhere to these rules and regulations, everything will be taken down and that INCLUDES MY OWN FAMILY STILL IN AZ.

We are one world and we should all come together to accept that others have rights too, but there isn't anyway for each belief or person can be satisfied. We all have rights in this world and we should never transgress upon an other's, but the only way to place everything on a straight and level field is to institute the same boundary for everyone to follow.
You want respect, you have to be willing to give respect to others. And just so you know, I won't have any issues discussing anything which tramples on others with Dignity again. Read less
