Zobieda Fredrick

Zobieda Fredrick, aged 79, passed away while visiting her family on September 15, 2024, in St. Joseph, Trinidad. Born on October 6, 1944 in St. Joseph Trinidad, Zobieda, affectionately known as Zoby was one of thirteen children, her father helped develop the Jinnah Memorial Mosque in St Joseph and served as the first President of the Trinidad Islamic League.
Zoby led a vibrant life marked by her passions and dedication to those she loved.
Zoby left Trinidad in her early twenties, she traveled to England and pursued modeling. She then left England shortly after for the U.S. where she continued her career and meet her husband, Gary.
Zoby and Gary were married on August 31, 1971 and raised their two children Mark and Melissa in New Milford, NJ. While raising her family in New Jersey, she worked as an Office Manager at West Penetone Chemicals in Tenafly, NJ. Throughout her life, Zoby never stepped back from the limelight, continuing to model, take on small parts in TV and movies, which kept her connected to the world of entertainment she dearly loved. She authored a book about her family's heritage which she was deeply proud if, the book titled Uprooted.
Her hobbies were a reflection of her lively spirit. Zoby was passionate about life, modeling, acting, dancing, and living a joyful life, pursuits she enjoyed until her last day. She very much wrote her own story. She cherished the warm weather, a cold beer, and especially her family, friendships and her beloved Trinidad, which always held a special place in her heart.
Zoby was a devoted mother and is survived by her son, Mark Fredrick and his wife, Jessica, along with their three sons, Mark, Matthew, and Michael; and her daughter, Melissa Fernandes, her husband, Sanjay, and their two children, Joseph and Penelope along with her partner and best friend Hank Gartland. She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years of marriage, Gary Fredrick.
Zobieda Fredrick's life was a testament to her dynamic personality, and her ability to inspire joy in others, she was very much independent up until her last days, enjoying new experiences, travel and her time with family. Her legacy and wit and will be cherished and remembered by all who knew her.
