Zeny's obituary
Zenaida Quimson Cruz entered the world on March 11, 1945, in Malabon, Philippines, born to Beatriz Remedios Enriquez Quimson and Fructuoso Quimson. Known affectionately as Zeny to her friends, family, and colleagues, she embraced life with boundless optimism and constant determination, embarking on life's journey with an open heart and a curious mind. Her earliest memories intertwined the sights and sounds of Malabon's fish ponds with the bustling workroom where her mother and her team of seamstresses worked their craft, and the gentle guidance of her parents.
From a young age, Zeny cultivated her skills in sewing, drawn to the intricate details of needlecraft and the artistry of her mother's trade. Following in her father's footsteps, she pursued and attained her Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification, demonstrating a tenacity for achievement coupled with compassion for those around her. Throughout her life, Zeny remained a steadfast learner, continually seeking personal growth while attending to the needs of her loved ones and community.
Her love for nature was palpable, finding solace in her home garden on Fisher Street, local sanctuaries like Point Pinole Regional Shoreline, and the majestic landscapes of Yosemite National Park. As an entrepreneur, she ventured into tax preparation services, establishing her own business, A1Zen, after gaining experience at H&R Block and a decades long career with the Contra Costa County Assessor’s Office. She also ventured into property management, extending her talents to aid family friends. Zeny's resourcefulness and resilience inspired all who knew her, leaving an indelible mark on her children, friends, and acquaintances alike.
On the evening of March 13th, 2024, Zenaida peacefully departed this world in Chula Vista, San Diego County, after reaching the end of her journey with Alzheimer's disease. Her unwavering strength, gentle spirit, and kindness persisted until the end. She leaves behind a legacy of love and service as a devoted daughter, supportive sister, committed wife, loving mother, sweet Lola and cherished friend.
