Zaynab's obituary
It is with profound sadness that we announce the untimely passing of our daughter, Zaynab Abdelzaher, who was born on October 6, 1997, and called to eternal rest on April 14, 2025. Zaynab is survived by her loving and adoring parents, Aliyah Ubaydullah and Abdul Abdelzaher. A joy to raise, Zaynab was nothing short of a loving and extraordinary daughter and sister. Her driving curiosity and strong will, were among the many characteristics that defined her vibrant personality. She was outspoken, spontaneous, loved to joke, and held a deep affection for animals.
Zaynab was a true free spirit who danced to the beat of her own drum. Her artistic flair, charming wit, sense of fashion, and unwavering authenticity shone brightly throughout her life. She taught us the invaluable lesson of being true to oneself, a mantra she lived by every day.
Among her many accomplishments, Zaynab was an exemplary student. She graduated from Nathan Hale High School with a 3.7 GPA, earning a full scholarship. She attended Tacoma Community College, where she was pursuing a career in business marketing, and she was a long-time member of the Young Women Empowered organization. These accomplishments attest to her dedication and commitment to personal growth, spirituality, and community involvement.
Zaynab had special gifts – a passion for music, an angelic voice, and a talent for playing the guitar. She loved penning lyrics, poems, short videos, and stories. Thankfully, she left behind a rich trove of videos, writings, and recordings that we will forever cherish. This part of her legacy will continue to inspire and uplift everyone who knew her.
Zaynab taught us how to love and how to grieve. She will forever be loved and missed by her family and friends. Left to honor her memory are her parents, Abdul and Aliyah, her sister Dahlia-Yasmin, and her brother Shams. She also leaves behind her beloved Church families at Northgate Gospel Chapel in Seattle and Kingdom Christian Center in Tacoma.
A Celebration of Life service for Zaynab will be held on Saturday, May 17, 2025, from 2:00 pm until 6:00 pm at Young Women Empowered (Y-WE), 5623 Rainier Avenue South, Seattle, WA 98118. We invite all those whose lives were touched by Zaynab to join us as we honor her memory and the joy she brought into this world. Service will begin at 3:00 pm
