Zachia (Ƶ) Lawson, 21, of DeMotte, IN passed away unexpectedly at Franciscan Health in Crown Point, Indiana surrounded by his friends and family on February 18, 2022. His final selfless act was donating his organs and tissues to others in need through the Gift of Hope. Being an organ donor was something he wanted since he was 12 years old. Family, Friends and ICU staff lined the hallways to pay their respects for Ƶ’s Honor Walk to give his donations. His family is unbelievably proud of him.

Born on November 11, 2000 in Sullivan, Indiana Zachia was the son of Stacie (Marcos) Sanchez. Zachia went to Kankakee Valley High School in Wheatfield, Indiana. He became an installer and trainer for HVAC systems working for All Seasons Heating and Cooling. Ƶ was loved in his community and was well known for his amazing hair, pranking others to uplift their spirits, joking around, being a goofball, his witty sarcasm, his huge heart, handsome smile, bright eyes, and his overwhelming kindness to everyone.

Zachia enjoyed anything outdoors and in nature, snow skiing, boating, tubing, watching the clouds, the sunrise,  the sunsets, hanging out by a fire, the way the trees blew in the wind, the mountains, the Grand Canyon, Whistler, and he loved more than anything spending time with his family, his precious doggos and dear friends. He also took pride in modifying, detailing, and cruising in his STI Subi and loved  getting swole at Anytime Fitness. He was the most kind-hearted person who would do anything for anyone. He always tried to make people see their own self-worth and bringing out the best in everyone. Zachica will be greatly missed by all that knew him.

Zachia has transitioned to be with his great grandparents, William(Bill) and Oka Gaskin, and his great aunt Connie Rogers.

He is survived by his best friend and mother Stacie and his father Marcos (Sanchez). His very handsome brother Joseph (Nicci) Duncan, His cool sister Hayley Del Real (Joel), his awesome brothers Timothy Lawson, and Chandler (Anjalena) Miller. Treasured nephews Sydnee(Squidd), Sebastyen and Nolan. His fabulous nieces Alaska, Sophia, Charlotte, Emberly, Journey and Hazel. His beloved grandfather Rick Lawson, who meant the world to Ƶ. His platinum special cousin Chipp Collins, who is a colorful storyteller and had a special bond with Ƶ, as he always looked at him as a son. His exceptionally talented cousin David (Julia) Rogers, as well as many other cousins and close friends that are family, as well as all of his very best puppers, Stella, Saber, and Nakayah.

We will celebrate and honor Zachia’s life on March 12, 2022 from 4pm to 11 pm at the Demotte American Legion.
