Zachary's obituary
Zachary Douglas Ludwig, 48 of Mansfield and formerly of Bucyrus, Ohio, passed away on Monday February 16, 2026, at Riverside Hospital in Columbus, surrounded by family, after a battle with cancer. Zachary was born October 6, 1977, in Key West, Florida to Douglas and Patricia “Kathy” Eaton Ludwig who survive in Bucyrus. In addition to his parents, he is survived by sister Tahra Ludwig; nephew Douglas Kerouac Cossel; his beloved wife Holly Stene, a stepson Logan Brown; great uncle and aunt Jim (Geneva) Denton, great aunt Edith Mattingly, aunts and uncles Terry (Bill) Seymour, Robin (Jeff) Dye, Dean Black, David Arthur, Larnette (Vicki) Horton (honorary), and many beloved cousins.
Zachary was preceded in death by paternal grandparents Gene and Ilene Mahley; maternal grandparents William and Elizabeth Eaton; aunts Betsy Black, Lorraine Arthur, Gladys Mary Eaton, and honorary uncle Bill Horton.
Zachary graduated from Bucyrus High School in 1996 and was a freelance journalist for the last 10 years. He was an avid video gamer, and a portrait artist. He loved music and once sang in a Funk band. He enjoyed baseball and football and earned a baseball scholarship to college. He will be remembered by everyone who knew him as a defender of the helpless.
A memorial service will be held at Open Arms Church 8372 State Rte 61, Galion, OH 44833, on Sunday February 22nd at 2:00 pm with Pastor Bill Seymour officiating. The family will receive friends immediately afterwards at the church.
