Yvonne's obituary

“Little Bit” Yvonne (Harris) Young, 65, formerly of Steubenville, Ohio, transitioned unexpectedly on August 26, 2023, following a medical emergency at De Paul Hospital in Bridgeton, MO.

She was born on November 30, 1957 in Detroit, Michigan to the union of Willard and Erma (Williams) Harris. Yvonne was raised in Detroit, MI until the age of 12 years old. In June 1970, she and her family moved to Steubenville, Ohio.

Yvonne graduated from Wintersville High school in 1975. She was Baptist by faith and loved attending her church, Mount Zion Baptist Church in Steubenville, Ohio.

Yvonne was a very caring mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, who loved her family very much. She will be dearly missed. She is survived by her beloved son and cherished daughter-in-law, Joseph and Nicole Young. She is survived by her five granddaughters Ashley Donovan, Tierra Dillard, Alyssa Phillips, Hailey Waltman, and Zyanya Young; and her two grandsons Brandon Sitarz, and Gabriyl Kraemer-Young. Yvonne is also survived by seven great-grandchildren.

In addition to her immediate family, Yvonne is survived by her sisters Michelle Harris, Yvette Leavell (twin), Kimberly Harris, Dolores Reid, and Deborah Bryant; her brother, Daryl Forrester; aunts Jo (Howard) Christian, Carletta Williams, and Crystal (De’Andre) Harper; uncles Zakee Mumin, and De’Andre Harper; nephews Mikail Muhammad, Jerrod Harris, and Allen Leavell; nieces Tiffany Harris and Tamyka Harrison.

In addition to her parents, and grandparents, she was preceeded in death by 1 sister, Lisa Faye, and 2 special nieces, Ashleigh Harris and Alona Leavell.

Yvonne was a veteran who left an indelible mark on the world through her time of service in the Navy. Proclaiming her service in 1995, she demonstrated her unyielding strength and endurance. Recognized as a wartime veteran, Yvonne's accomplishments serve as a testament to her resilience, tenacity, and dedication to her country. During her time in the Navy, she served on the USS Coronado and the USS Acadia. She was a Navy veteran who served her country with pride and was a member of American legion post 274 Steubenville, Ohio.

In honor of Yvonne's spirit and legacy, a fund has been established in her name, "Yvonne Young - Child of God". Her resiliency, tenacity, and unwavering spirit will be forever etched in the memories of those she touched. Yvonne's life was a testament to kindness, strength, and faith. Although she will be deeply missed, her spirit will forever live in the hearts of those who loved and cherished her.
