Yvonne Speros
March 5, 1948 – October 16, 2024
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Yvonne Speros, who passed away peacefully on October 16, 2024, at her home in Fremont, California. Born on March 5, 1948, in Oakland, California, to Tom and Helen Pon, Yvonne embodied kindness, love, and authenticity throughout her life.
Yvonne grew up in Oakland, graduating from Oakland High School in 1966 before attending San Francisco State University, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Business in 1971. She dedicated over 15 years to Montgomery Wards in the accounting department. Followed by a few years doing accounting work for a local car wash in San Leandro. Yvonne had a heart for service and volunteered for many years as a kitchen assistant at Coastline Christian School before being officially hired in August 2016. She worked with Coastline Christian School Food Service and Tiny Treasures Preschool as a kitchen helper and child development aide, cherishing her time there and deeply valuing every moment with her colleagues, who became a second family to her.
Yvonne is survived by her beloved mother, Helen Pon; her children, Marie Grimsley and her husband John, along with their sons JT, Hunter, Evan, and Trapper; and Aileen Caravantes and her husband Joel, and children Mikey, Dylan, Alasia, Mateo, Alexander, Joel and Zoey. She is also survived by her siblings, Chester Pon, Steven Pon, and Nancy Tom.
Known for her vibrant tie-dye attire, Yvonne’s spirit was as colorful as her wardrobe. She was a beautiful soul, full of warmth and grace, and her presence brought light and joy to all who knew her.Yvonne’s life was a testament to the impact of a kind heart and a gentle spirit. While words may fail to fully capture her essence, her family and friends take comfort knowing she is now in God’s care, watching over the loved ones she held dear. She will be profoundly missed, but her love and memory will forever remain in our hearts.
There will be a celebration of life reception to be held Saturday, December 7. Please be sure to use the RSVP link on the page. Show up in your favorite tie dye or crazy colored shirts in honor of Yvonne.
