Yvonne's obituary
Yvonne Marie McCallister, 77 of Corvallis, Oregon passed away May 1st, 2025 at home. Yvonne was born August 23rd, 1947 in Porterville, CA to Nina Pearl Cooper and John Frank McCallister. She attended Seneca HS in Seneca, Missouri where she grew up with her older sister, Paula.
While attending college at University of Omaha, she married Lance Joshua Caddy in June 1971. In June 1972 they moved to Seattle in their yellow VW Karmann Ghia where she worked as a paralegal and attended courses at University of WA. In Aug 1978 they moved to Denver where they had their first child, Noel, in Oct 1978.
A few years later her sister helped them move to settle in Corvallis and arrived on New Year’s Eve 1980. In 1982 they moved to a new family home they built together where a year later they had their second child, Seth, in Aug 1983.
While in Corvallis, she graduated with her MBA from University of Oregon, worked at the athletic program of OSU and then at the city budget office, and was deeply involved with the local performing arts community having assistant directed Pirates of Penzance, directed See How They Run in December of 1995 at Majestic theater and was the vice-president of CCT from April 1994 through Sept 1996.
On April 5th, 1997 she married Lewis Allen Broxson and bought the home in which they shared their lives for 28 years.
Yvonne was a devoted loving mother who cherished spending as much time as possible with her children. She loved exploring the outdoors and nature including camping and the Oregon coast where she’d fly kites. She donated frequently to nature conservation funds. She loved running and bicycling having participated in the Pole, Peddle, Paddle and the Hood to Coast events and mountain biking with her husband Lew. She rollerbladed and played tennis. She loved listening to oldies and Motown. She loved to dance. She made the best red spaghetti sauce that was just a little sweet and piles of delectable French toast on weekends. She loved petunias, fuchsias, and tulips and watching the birds and wildlife in the garden. She was an exceptional seamstress and frequently made gifts for family and friends even selling some of her homemade purses at local shops. She was also an exceptional gift giver. She made Halloween costumes for her children. She loved puzzles and games and musicals. She played piano and sang. She taught her children to love and appreciate art and nature and all of the beautiful things in life. She instilled curiosity about the world and a love of learning in her children. She was doting, kind, and loving.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Lewis Allen Broxson. Children; Noel Joshua McCallister Caddy, Seth Christian McCallister Caddy, Thomas Allen Broxson, Michael Howard Broxson. Grandchildren Aria Grace Caddy, Andreas Lewis Broxson, Leif Thomas Broxson, Miles Michael Broxson, Willis Robert Broxson. And her sister Paula Olevia Livingston.
Yvonne chose to be cremated and wishes for us to celebrate her life in our own ways.
She is missed beyond words. She is loved now, always, and forever. ❤️❤️
