Yuzhen's obituary

Mrs. Teng Yuzhen, born on September 22, 1935 in Qiding Mountain, Jinzhou, also of Dalian, Liaoning Province, the youngest daughter of a family with three older brothers and one older sister, passed away at home on June 15, 2020 at the age of 85.

During her whole life, Mrs. Teng Yuzhen honored and respected her elders, diligently cared for her family, and with her husband, raised two daughters to adulthood. From an early age, Mrs. Teng Yuzhen received a good education, studying primary school locally, moving to Dalian with her second oldest brother during junior high school to transfer to Dalian’s Middle School No. 21. After graduating from junior high school, she was admitted into Dalian Medical University School of Public Health for three years. She later worked at Dalian’s Middle School No. 8, where she served as a health care provider for more than 30 years until she retired in 1990.

During her time as a health care provider, she was respected by students and teachers. Many students called her “Mother Teng.” Besides working and taking care of her family, she also provided long-term care for a nephew who had suffered severe burns, and, after retirement, still actively helped rural workers find employment and adapt to city life, changing their lives.

In 2006, she followed her daughter Xiaofeng to immigrate to the United States, and has lived in the City of South Pasadena ever since. In her life, Mrs. Teng Yuzhen’s character was easy-going, kind to others, full of integrity, filled with love and dedication, close to her neighbors, honest to her friends, caring for others, and ever cheerful.

In 2009, Mrs. Teng Yuzhen had an opportunity come into contact with Christianity. She insisted on going to church, often read the Bible, and preached the Gospel, becoming a truly joyful Christian. Her whole life, she was kind, ordinary, hardworking, and strong, living a life worth remembering for her family and friends. May she rest in the kingdom of heaven, resurrect with the Lord, and be with God forever!
