Yimin's obituary

Yimin He, aka Jenny, was a loving mom, friend, daughter, sister, and partner. She was born in Hunan, China to He Cheng and Liu Qi.  She studied chemistry at Beijing Normal University from 1980-1984, and then taught at South China Normal University in Guangdong. She moved to the United States in 1991. She lived in Corpus Christi, Texas, Southern California, Vidor, Texas, and Beaumont, Texas. She loved to fish, garden, cook, eat, travel, spend time with her family, and spoil her grandchildren.

She is survived by children Liuan Huska, Charlie Huang, and Heidi Huang, and grandchildren Oliver, Finley, and Miles Huska. She is also survived by her six siblings in China. She was a spunky woman who found joy, beauty, and fun even though life threw her many curveballs. In her life, she reinvented herself many times, from becoming a restaurant owner, to sushi chef, to massage therapist. She was constantly full of new business ideas and dreams.

You could either find her in her garden, tending to her muscadine grapes, lotus pond, date, fig, and persimmon trees, harvesting and shelling pecans, chestnuts, or other foraged foods, or cooking delicious meals for those she loved. She delighted in the simple pleasures of life, from displaying flowers from her garden in her many vases around the house, to an artfully arranged plate of food, to watching her grandchildren grow up, to sipping a small cup of mocha, some fresh squeezed grapefruit juice, or a root beer float toward the end of her life.

She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Yimin, 小敏,Mama, Waipo, Jen, Jenny - we remember you by many names and you meant so much to so many of us. We will always hold your laugh, spirit, and love in our hearts.
