Dear Haily - I was just using the power of the internet to see if I could find your mom, and sadly came upon this news. I was a graduate student in biology at Notre Dame and worked with your mom, and then was her replacement as a teaching professor when she left for California. (I am still here at ND!) Long, long ago I found a small journal that she had been writing to you and your sister tucked back in a corner of her desk. I tried to contact her once to get it back to her but was unsuccessful and then life got busy. But I swear that it is still somewhere in my office in the new Jordan Hall of Science at Notre Dame. I am reaching out now with hope of contacting you and being able to send this to you when I find it. (You can contact me at my Notre Dame email, or the email associated with this account.) Your mom was certainly an incredible woman, and I so enjoyed reading this beautiful tribute to her. My condolences on your loss.
I was just checking on how to send a card to Yati and sadly found her obituary. I was deeply saddened but a well written obituary says it all about Yati. I do believe we played an important role in her life and we will remember her as an intellectual woman and mother who made our world a better place for all those who had the privilege to have her as a friend or teacher. Both of her daughters are amazing people and I hope our paths will again someday cross. Carolyn Garber
Our Deepest Sympathy for the loss of your Amazing Mother. Yati gave so much of herself to her students and her love of science. Our family loved her, and will be forever changed by knowing her. Love to You all and Yati, Henry and Lois Lomelin and Family
