Background
On Sunday, March 12th, Xana was sick with a stomach bug and fever. Her sister had recently just recovered from the illness. Xana had a seizure on Sunday after her fever came down. She was taken to the ER and released later that night thinking the seizure was likely related to the elevated temperature.
The next day, Xana was taken to the pediatrician's office. While there, she had a second seizure. She was transported to the hospital by ambulance.
At the hospital she was admitted to a pediatric unit. She was lethargic, not eating and not walking well. They did many tests on her and came to a diagnosis of a rare disorder called ADEM. While continuing to work on her treatment plan, Xana had a third seizure. This seizure cause a lot of stress on her body. She was intubated and transferred to the PICU.
After Xana was stabilized, she went for a repeat MRI that showed swelling in her brain. Her parents were then told the devastating news that Xana would not recover from this. She remained on life support while her family and friends continued to comfort her. Xana decided when it was time to go and her body started shutting down. She became an angel in the afternoon of March 21st.
She was so very loved by her mother (Holly), father (Arti), and sister (Coco), among many other family members and friends.
Your gift will help the family with funeral arrangements, medical expenses and will provide them more time home together before returning to work. Contribute
