Blaine's obituary

THE LOSS OF A LEGEND ~ WM. BLAINE JACKSON

“To consider that everyone is granted only a specific number of days in their respective lives, it is important that we live each day to the fullest extent. Make every day count, embrace it, live it, and leave that day better and more complete as you pass it forward.”

~ Wm. Blaine Jackson 2022 – Quote from his legacy book

Wm. Blaine Jackson won the fight, but lost the final battle after his courageous 4 1/2 year struggle with pancreatic cancer. During the advanced stages he used the terms “We got this” and “#JacksonStrong” when connecting with family and friends. Known to oncology doctors at Oschner Medical Center in New Orleans as a “medical miracle,” Blaine lived years longer than expected.

Wm. Blaine Jackson was born on Oct. 25, 1948 in Atlanta, GA and passed away peacefully at age 74 on May 9, 2023 in New Orleans, LA. Blaine was proceeded in death by his parents James & Sarah Jackson, daughter Michele Risola, sister Judy Prevost, and brother Dave Jackson.

His legacy continues to live on in his children in the Cincinnati area, Mia Neckel (husband Tim), Tony Jackson (wife Angela), Monica Commins (husband Kenyon), and son-in-law Steve Risola (husband of late daughter Michele). Blaine is survived by his former wife, Beverly Redmond-Jackson. Papa leaves behind his loving grandchildren, Cory Risola (wife Jordyn), Sydney Neckel, Dylan Risola, Kolton Commins, Lucas Neckel, Kenley Commins, Kaylin Commins, & Will Jackson.

THE JACKSON FAMILY

Blaine’s siblings include Don Jackson (wife Jeri), Larry Jackson (wife Vicki), Kathy Jackson (wife of late brother Dave), Debi Rideman (husband Ron), Brother-In-Law Doug Prevost (husband of late wife Judy), and numerous nieces and nephews. He is survived by his wife Pat Jackson, and fur babies Lexie & Sophie who reside in New Orleans.

REMARKABLE CAREER - Always wanting to serve others, the laundry industry has known Blaine as a generous, kind, and overall great guy to be around and always gained some sort of detailed technical knowledge while around him. He made many things better in the laundry industry throughout his 43 year career (retired in 2015 from Kannegiesser). His efforts were rewarded with the TRSA (Textile Rental Services Association) Annual Conference receiving the Maglin Biggie Lifetime Achievement Award. Blaine had unwavering passion for innovation and excellence, which were passed along to his children and grandchildren.

LIVE EACH DAY/MAKE EVERY DAY COUNT.

Wm. Blaine Jackson was a Veteran of the United States Army, entering the service in 1970 After basic training in Ft. Leonard Wood in Missouri, Blaine served in Germany elevating to Specialist 5 position. He stayed busy playing football and softball with his fellow soldiers. Years later, Blaine’s love of sports kept him on the sidelines of endless soccer, volleyball, baseball, softball, basketball, and football games for his children and grandchildren. Sources say there “may” have been a few instances where Blaine was asked by the officials to cheer from outside the sports complex perimeter, but that’s for a later conversation…
