Mr. Willie James Holmes, 87, passed away on December 03, 2022. He was born to the proud parents of Robert Holmes and Ninell Edwards-Holmes (both deceased) on October 23, 1935 in Hawkinsville, Georgia.

After Willie attended Booker T. Washington Sr. High School, he went on to earning two post-graduate degrees. Willie served in the U.S. Air Force and also dedicated many years as a Foreign Service Officer in the U.S. State Dept.

He was a passionate musician and lover of all things history and Jazz. Willie was an avid adventurer and world traveler. One of his favorite destinations being Paris, France. You would often hear him say c’est la vie, which translates to “that’s life.” He always lived life to the fullest and encouraged everyone around him to do the same. We will always love him and miss him dearly; but his words of wisdom and spirit will live with us forever.

Willie was predeceased by his sisters Thelma Lee and Ruthie Thomas, and spouse Janet Lee Holmes. He is survived by his son Tristan Holmes, daughter Tara Santos, daughter-in-law Michelle Holmes, grandson Taylor Holmes, sister Jessie Latham and a host of nieces and nephews.
