Laverne Hamlett, our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend passed away on January 17th 2020 in her home in New Rochelle, NY. A native of Danville, Virginia where she attended public school, she then relocated to Bridgeport, Connecticut, and finally to her home in New Rochelle New York. She enjoyed dancing, ushering at her church, Shilo Baptist, and enjoyed loud laughter with family and friends. She is sorely missed by everyone who had the good fortune to know her.

She leaves to cherish her two children: Chauncey Hamlett (Deon) and Kawanza Brown; her sister Kitty Toomer, and brother in-law James Strange; her three grandchildren Sarah Hyde, Daniel Hamlett, and Ethan Hamlett; six nephews Steven Totten (Nicole), Claud RaShawn McBride, Warren Hamlett, Arthur Hamlett, Sherman Toomer, and Mark Eaton; nieces Trellis Hamlett, Terri Middleton, Kimberly Hamlett, Victoria Mitchell (Bill ) and a host of great nieces and nephews, and other family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Sarah and Chauncey “Billy” Hamlett; siblings Dorothy Ann McBride, Zadelle Hamlett Strange, Javon Hamlett, Larry Hamlett; maternal grandparents Lucille and Judson Jeffries and paternal grandparents Katie and Jackson Hamlett.

She leaves to cherish her two children: Chauncey Hamlett (Deon) and Kawanza Hamlett; her sister Kitty Toomer; her three grandchildren Sarah Hyde, Daniel Hamlett, and Ethan Hamlett; six nephews Steven Totten (Nicole), Claud RaShawn McBride, Warren Hamlett, Arthur Hamlett, Sherman Toomer, and Mark Eaton; 2 nieces Trellis Hamlett and Terri Middleton; Kimberly Hamlett, Victoria Mitchell (. ) and a host of great nieces and nephews, and a host of other family of family and friends.
