How you can help
Willie was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer and kidney failure. Though the disease had caused him to lose a lot of weight and became frail, he looked like he was coming back. At the ER, on Friday, May 3, 2014, he sat up, ate his sandwich and was putting some of his potato chips in my mouth. Who am I? I am his friend. And we were once engaged to be married. I am Sister Dina. I lived him very much and was his medical advocate.
When Willie got onto the 4th floor, the attending doctor wanted to place him in hospice where they would stop his 3x per week dialysis treatment and cause him to die quicker. Willie and I refused hospice. I told the doctor: GOD is The giver of live. He is the One who gives life and He is the only One who should take life. Then the doctor said: what is the point of living, if you don't have a good quality of life? And then he said: If this was my father, I would let him go.
From that moment on, things began to take a turn for the worst. Hospital Staff came in and removed his oxygen (his BiPAP) off of his mouth, while his oxygen level declined to a dangerous number (beeping a red number). Please see YouTube: https://youtu.be/LsDQ7Jcj3iY
Then, the next day, while knowing his breathing was challenged by the cancer that attacked his right lung and now had spread to the left lung - hospital staff gave him COREG (a blood pressure medicine) with XANAX (an opiate) and a few hour later, gave him MORPHINE. From that time, he became very very drowsy and did not talk much. Contribute
