William (Vito) Messina

July 26, 1937 – March 30, 2025

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of William (Vito) Messina, affectionately known as Bill, Papa, and Uncle Bill, on March 30, 2025, in Ajax, Ontario. He was 87 years old.

Born in Toronto on July 26, 1937, to Rosario and Gerolama Messina. Brother to Betty, Marion, Joseph, Mary, John, and Frankie. Bill was the beloved husband of Christina for over 70 years. Together, they raised three children, Tim, Debbie, and Gerri, who will forever cherish their father’s love and wisdom. Bill was also a proud and loving Papa to Michael, Matthew (Sap), Sean, Kyle (Sarah), CJ (Sam), Sarah (Cam), and Samantha. His legacy of family love continued through his great-grandchildren: Lucca, Leo, Liliana, Sydney, Aurora, and Leah, all of whom he adored.

Bill worked as a heavy equipment operator for Toronto Hydro, a job he took great pride in for many years. His skill and dedication were evident in everything he did, both on the job and at home. Bill was a hands-on man, always tinkering, building, and fixing things. He enjoyed going for walks, often finding peace and joy in the simple act of being outside and working with his hands.

One of Bill’s greatest joys was his family. He poured his heart into creating a space where his loved ones could gather and make lasting memories. His proudest achievement was building a cottage for his family—a place where they could all come together to enjoy each other’s company and create lifelong bonds.

Bill’s love for his family knew no bounds. He was known for his warm heart, his hard work, and his unwavering commitment to those he loved. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his spirit will live on through the many memories he leaves behind.

A private family gathering will be held to celebrate Bill’s life.
