Background
GBM is a primary brain cancer and is the most aggressive. The five year survival rate of GBM is only 6.8 percent and the average survival time is just 12-18 months. Glioblastoma survival rates and mortality statistics have been virtually unchanged for decades. With a GBM diagnosis, there are biomarkers that determine how a patient will respond to treatment. Our bodies are built to protect our brain, so the blood brain barrier makes it harder to treat this cancer. As of now, the best help with prognosis is a successful resection, which Chandler was fortunate enough to have. There is much work to be done.
