Scott's obituary
William Scott Miller, Sr., 54, passed away peacefully on June 1, 2025, after bravely fighting cancer for nearly two years. Scott will be remembered for his strength, resilience, and unwavering spirit throughout his journey.
Scott was born and raised in Corpus Christi. He attended Flour Bluff High School and graduated from King High School in Corpus Christi. Scott later attended Southwest Texas State University.
Scott thrived as a dedicated sales professional in the hospitality industry for more than 20 years. He had the natural ability to connect with others, demonstrated integrity and was well respected by his colleagues.
An avid outdoorsman, Scott was most content on the water or out at the deer lease. Growing up near the beach, much of his life revolved around the ocean—offshore fishing, boating, and scuba diving were his passions. His love for diving inspired many friends and family members to get certified and experience the underwater world alongside him.
Scott also cherished hunting, a tradition he learned from his uncle and surrogate father, Mike “Murph” Murphree. Together with his brother, Trey, and cousin, Carl “KMAC,” they formed a close-knit group affectionately known as “The Cowboys,” hunting together in South Texas for many years. In 2009, Scott and Carl secured a deer lease near Hunt, Texas, where they shared 12 memorable years at Camp Madrone.
Above all, Scott loved his family. He was a devoted and adoring husband to his wife of four years, Heather, and a proud, dedicated father to his son, William. He was also a loving stepfather and role model to Amelia Guerrero, Jacob Guerrero, Taryn Soulliere, and Davin Horsley. Scott was often called the “favorite cousin” in a large extended family full of close bonds and cherished memories.
Scott is survived by his wife, Heather Fjeldahl Miller; his son, William Scott Miller, Jr.; his brother, Charles R. “Trey” Miller III; sister-in-law, Kate Miller; nephews Charlie (Natalie) Miller. and Chris Miller; and great-nephew, Miles Miller. He is also survived by his uncles Roger (Wilma) Murphree, Mike (Lea) Murphree, and Paul (Margaret) Murphree; aunts Vanetta Murphree (Mike) Peterson and Pat Miller Key; numerous cousins; and his mother-in-law, Diane Fjeldahl, and brother-in-law, John Fjeldahl.
He is preceded in death by his beloved parents, Charles R. Miller Jr. and Carol Sue Murphree Miller.
Scott leaves behind a legacy of living life to the fullest and loving deeply. He will be remembered for his incredible smile, sense of humor, and contagious laughter. He gave selflessly and will be missed beyond measure.
To honor his final wishes, Scott’s ashes will be returned to the place he held most dear—Mustang Island, where his spirit will forever be tied to the water he loved.
