William's obituary

It is with great sadness that our family announces that William Frederick Schoonbeck, Jr.  passed from our arms into Gods eternal peace on the morning of July 5, 2024.  He was a resident in South Florida and lived with his wife Joann C. Schoonbeck in Coconut Creek, FL.   William ("Billy") was born in East Greenbush, NY on May 21, 1950 and he was 74.

During his illness his devoted wife, Joann Schoonbeck spent countless hours and sleepless nights caring for the husband that she loved.  She attended to his every need especially during his quick and recent demise.  After residing in NY most of his life Billy moved to Florida to enjoy the sun and all many activities that the beautiful weather afforded and that’s where he met Joann and married her December 29, 2012.  Billy was an avid concert goer, and enjoyed to play golf a couple times a week.  He also loved his weekly night poker games with his buddies, a few who he met in his old stomping grounds, Albany, NY.   With his entrepreneurial spirit, Billy developed and found his niche in operating his own businesses.  Billy loved to cook and would prepare and plate delicious meals for his wife, family, and friends.

In his childhood, Billy received perfect attendance at the Greenbush Dutch Reformed Church of his upbringing. In his adolescence, he became a Boy Scout, achieving numerous merit badges and making friends. He attended Columbia high school in East Greenbush.

At least twice a year he would fly to New York to see his family and attend the jazz festival in June at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center and the Saratoga race track for the Travers Stakes in August.  Siblings would gather together and enjoy dinner and his company with lots of laughs. Billy is predeceeed by his parents William F. Schoonbeck Sr. and Marion Schoonbeck.

Bill leaves behind his wife Joann Schoonbeck, his children, namesake Billy III, Schuyler Rose Schuette, Grace Kelly Schoonbeck, and step son Spencer N. Ramirez.  Billy was the proud grandfather to Reid, Grant and Kahlani.

Being the oldest of six children in the Schoonbeck family he leaves behind, his brother David Schoonbeck and wife Jean, sister Susan Hunter and husband Teddy Hunter, sister Patty Geddes and husband Don, sister Shirley Thacker and husband Don, and Carol Clifford and husband Jesse.

The entire family offer heartfelt special thanks to our dear friend, James Hanan and his wife Wanda.  James selflessly loved and supported Bill and our family.  His kind words eased our burden as he sat by his buddy “Willie”, as he so fondly called him.
