Bill's obituary
Bill was born in Gates County, North Carolina on Aug. 09, 1926, the son of the late William Riddick and Ruth Hinton. Bill was a retired WWII Veteran having entered the Navy at the young age of 15. After his service, he worked as a police officer in Waterbury, Connecticut. He retired from the state of Connecticut after serving as a Correctional officer at Somers and Enfield Correctional facilities for over 20 years. He lived in many places including New York, Waterbury Connecticut, and Springfield, Massachusetts and spent his later years of his life in Metropolitan Atlanta, Georgia in close proximity to his children and siblings.
Bill was an avid golfer which led him to play as many golf courses in as many states as he could during his lifetime. During his time living in Atlanta, his passion led to volunteering with First Tee, a nonprofit organization that teaches children life skills through purposed golf lessons. He also had many other passions which included his style, photography and collecting historical artifacts and figurines.
He is survived by two children, Jannise Herbert of Dallas, North Carolina. and Dr. William Peter Riddick of Ellenwood, Georgia; sisters, Jean Nurse, Barbara Riddick, and Dorothy Riddick; brother Henry Riddick; grandchildren Tony Santos, Jamilah Riddick, and Jasmine Riddick; and several great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by both parents; his wife Eulalie Alyce Riddick; brothers Jerry Riddick, Melvin Riddick, Lenny Riddick, Edward Gramby, and John “Bunny” Gramby; sisters Evelyn McLauren, and Ruth “Toots” Vaughn and grandchild Rome Riddick.
Bill was an outgoing and talkative person who never met a stranger. He will be truly missed by all who were able to experience his friendly presence.
