The first two things we knew about Bill, prior to meeting him, were that he was a devoted public servant and that we shared common ideals. The next two things we learned after meeting him were that he was a ballroom dancer and that he was madly in love with his wife. He never kept the genuine, human part of himself from others. You always got the full package: direct, funny, true to himself, whip smart and self-deprecating . We will always regret not getting to know him sooner but will always be grateful for the time that we had. Rest well Bill.

Bill rented from me during session. We got to exchange some fun stories and laughs about people we had in common. I liked what a great person he was and how he cared so much about his family and his duties as a Legislator- he will be sorely missed by all. I wish his loved ones well.

He led by example, and such an example he set. Whenever someone starts dismissing all politicians as “simply power seekers” or “self-interested,” I always stop them and say that is not true and that I personally know good people running and serving - and Bill always comes to mind. We were so fortunate to have such a kind, honest person put in all the time and enormous effort Bill did to serve our community. I hope a part of his legacy is to continue inspiring us to keep doing the important, hard work. I can see his big smile, encouraging us to do that.

Bill was a wonderful friend and a very fun guy to hang around. My husband Paul Survis and I have many fond memories of our times together in Fall River Mills and also in Jackson CA many years ago. We are so sorry to hear of his passing, he was a bright light in our world.

Bill was my golfing buddy when we worked downtown Seattle in ajoining offices. We would often call each other and leave work early and head to the golf course for an afternoon round of golf. We would play with Bill's co- workers Rick and Ted. I have many fond memories of these days as we competed in the game we all lived. Sometimes we would even make a day of it. I remember it trip to Salish Cliffs Golf Course in Shelton, WA, we carpooled together and had a wonderful day playing golf. Thanks for the memories Bill. Your friend, Kirk

So sorry to hear the sad news about Senator Ramos, my condolences to Councilmember Perry and family.
I met Bill when he was on the Issaquah City Council and was appointed to the Metropolitan King County Council's Regional Transit Committee (one of three committees that include elected officials from King County cities). As staff to the Committee, I was impressed by his dedication and graciousness. He asked thoughtful questions and listened carefully to the answers. His deepest concern was to make sure that public transportation served everyone including those most dependent on King County Metro services.
I was very pleased when he was elected to the legislature because we need more people in public life with his empathy and determination to find out the facts and do the right thing. I will remember him as a man of integrity and compassion; it was an honor to know him.

Bill Ramos excelled in all the qualities that our historical moment requires: love of country, family, and our planet. He demonstrated his all-embracing love in a myriad of ways. He introduced legislation that served people, saved farms and forests, and honored those who came before us. His legislation initiatives move us toward a more just and healthy future. We honor him by supporting legislation that continues his work.

I can't believe it's been over 30 years since I first met Bill while he sat behind his desk in the USFS North Bend District and I was promoting efforts of the Mountains to Sound Greenway Trust. Bill, of course, supported our goals to conserve lands, prevent sprawl all along I-90, and to build a connected Greenway, but....Bill was also required to abide by USFS regulations and policies. We worked together then and over the subsequent 30+ years to do good for conservation, the environment, our ecosystem, and our communties.
In more recent times, I would routinely meet Bill out on the trail during his runs and we'd let our dogs play together while we talked about politics, needed actions, and the state of the world. Maybe Bill wanted to slow down and take a rest from his runs while talking with me!! But other times, he'd shake my hand and want to just keep going, which I fully understood.
Like all, I was deeply shocked and saddened by Bill's sudden passing. But as I reflect on my 30+ years of friendship with him I am uplifted to know that he was such an uncommon man, devoted to doing good, serving his community, and trying so hard to make the world a better place. He did his part for as long as God let him....let's all do our part to continue on in making the world a better place.

Bill's passion and dedication to service has been extraordinary over the years. He was fun-loving and music and dance-loving. I remember going to a Tower of Power concert with him and Sarah. It is a terrific memory. He will be greatly missed.

Our memories of Bill will stay with us forever. Seeing him on his 69th birthday - hearing/watching him at his latest town meeting where his wisdom and eloquence shone so brightly. We will constantly miss his leadership and friendship. We mourn for you and your family, Sarah. We’re happy to contribute to Bill’s Memorial Fund. With much love and sympathy. Wally and Marilyn

I met Bill when we were on the board of Children's Services of Snoqualmie-Valley. He sported long hair, was energetic and committed to helping young childen and their families. Fast forward many years. Was this the same Bill Ramos who was now running for the state legislature in the 5th district? To find out, I went to his fundraiser, and sure enough there was Bill with a short haircut wearing a suit. I joined dozens of other enthusiastic volunteers who worked hard to get him elected. But no two people campaigned in more places, for more hours and had more fun than Bill and Sarah, his beloved wife. To you, Sarah, I am so sorry about your devastating loss. You and Bill were beautiful couple who devoted yourselves to helping others. You set a high bar for a loving, forever marriage. May Bill's legacy live on through your good works.

Bill was such a multi-dimensional person from unrelenting leadership on the environment to joyfully running. He was wonderful to work with on all his endeavors. His memory brings smiles.
