Randy's obituary
William Ransom Pritchett Jr. (65) was born February 10, 1958. Randy, as he was known to his family and friends, passed away peacefully on January 22, 2024, with family members lovingly by his side.
Born to William R. Pritchett Senior and Jessie Strunk-Pritchett, Randy lived a rambunctious young life in Baltimore County MD with his siblings Linda, Sharon, Gary, and Susan.
Randy graduated from Loch Raven High School in 1976. For the next four years he studied at Associated Builders/Contractors of MD Panorama Electrical School to earn an Electrical Apprenticeship; the next year he attended Eastern Vo-Tech for Furnace and Boiler Repair, Raymond School for Forklift Repair and Cecil College for Air Conditioning and Refrigeration. Randy then attended Harford Community College and Cecil College to earn 44 credits towards his AA Degree in business management. He also received a Master Watershed Steward Award from Cecil County Watershed Stewards Academy in 2016 which recognized his outstanding commitment to restoring the health of the county’s watersheds.
Randy had extensive maintenance management skills, with over 40 years of hands-on maintenance mechanic work, electrical, plumbing, troubleshooting, and mig and stick welding. He was clever, bright, and full to the brim with knowledge gained through all his life experiences. He could fix or build anything and had an unquenchable thirst for knowledge, often spending his spare time researching topics of interest. He retired in 2023 from Inframark in Elkton, Maryland.
Randy had an enormous heart and a wonderful sense of humor. He will be remembered for his zest for life, contagious laugh, beaming smile, and all the love he shared with family and friends. He loved riding his Harley, working on household projects and his yard, going to the beach, fishing, hunting and partying around his pool with friends and family, listening to bands at the local VFW, and playing with his much-loved canine companions Bailey and Tank, and Hannah who passed in 2021. He also loved to travel and create special memories. He especially enjoyed watching his grandchildren grow and spending time with them. His hobbies included photography, collecting cameras, miniature timepieces, spectacles, and replicas of clocks from previous eras. He loved researching artifacts connected to WWI and WWII.
Randy is survived by his loving fiancé Diane Pickering; daughter Shannon Pritchett (Jamey Woodall); honorary sons Steven Pickering (Alexis) and Matthew Pickering; honorary stepson Justin Sexton (Jessica); sisters Linda Jones (Bill), Sharon Collins (Gary Adams); brother Gary Pritchett (Mavis); and daughter-in-law Kelly Patrick. He will especially be missed by his grandchildren, some of whom he helped raise as babies: Alyssa Pritchett, Brooke Pritchett, Dillon Pritchett, Emmett Sexton, Isabelle “Izzy” Sexton, Johnathon Woodall, Leo Sexton, Sean Affayroux, and honorary grandsons Joshua and Nathan Pickering as well as many beloved cousins, nieces, nephews, and many very dear friends.
Randy was preceded in death by his parents, sister Susan Mills; son William “Willy” R. Pritchett IV; and grandson Kevin Pritchett.
Family and friends are invited to attend services at Bethel Lutheran Church, 24 Cameron Road, North East, MD 21901, on February 9, 2024. Visitation will begin at 11am, followed by a memorial service at 12pm. Lunch and refreshments will follow the service in the Fellowship Hall.
