William's obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our Dad, William Pear. Bill died peacefully July 27, 2025 before sunrise while in the Cape Cod Hospital. He had an amazing sense of humor right to the end, just ask the nurses at the hospital, but if you knew him, you knew that!
Bill was born in St John’s Newfoundland to William J. Pear and Elizabeth (Bradbury) Pear on September 4, 1940. He moved to the Cape in his teen years and attended Barnstable High School. He had a love for cars and was an excellent mechanic. Over his early years in Yarmouth, he worked in car repair, eventually running the Bass River Esso Station at the 4 Corners of South Yarmouth, but his true passion was selling cars! He moved on to open a used car dealership which he upgraded to Bass River Subaru, new and used cars. He had a big lot right off Exit 8, and had a clientele that returned over and over, earning him title of,” Honest Billy Pear, The Walking Man’s Friend”. Back in those days, you could see the Bass River Auto Sales sticker on every other car in town! When you bought a car from Billy Pear, he stood behind it 100%. It was what he did and he did it well!
He tried the restaurant business/bar business, owning several around town, but his true love was cars. He was semi retired with a small shop for repairs and still sold a car now and then, but several illnesses set him back a bit and he had to slow down.
Predeceased by his parents, Bill is survived by his life long partner Jeanne Huseby, his three children, daughters Linda DeMeo, Debbie Sheinis (Phil), and son Jeffrey Pear (Jodie), his grandchildren, Alan Lacerda (Meredith), Adam Lacerda, Heather and Hannah Pear, Jake, Josh and Hailey Sheinis, and step- grandchildren Brianna Sheinis, Nick Josie, also survived by his great-grandchildren Aubrey, Braelynn and Lyla Lacerda and step-great grandchildren Taryn Sheinis, Christopher Josie and is survived by his brother David Morris.
Bill will be dearly missed by Jeanne, his children, extended family and friends.
A Private Celebration of his Life will be held in the near future.
