Bill's obituary

It is with heavy hearts as well as gratitude for a long life well lived that we announce the passing of Bill McEwen.

He was born in Windsor, Ontario on June 29,1933 and after 92 years of working hard, playing hard, and spending quality time with his family and many friends, he left us August 27, 2025.

He is survived by his wife Shirley, sister Carol, children Dawna (Gilles), Brian (Katie), six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. He was predeceased by his brother Don, In-laws Al, Lorrie, Lorraine, Gordon, and his great-grandson Andrew.

Throughout his life he sang and played clarinet and saxophone. He belonged to a dance band in his youth and several bands and choirs throughout his life. After retirement he entertained several times a week at various senior’s residences.

The family expresses gratitude to the staff and volunteers at Bethania Care Home for the excellent care and recreational opportunities he received during the last 2 years of his life.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made in his memory to Parkinson Canada either online or by mail to 4211 Yonge Street, Toronto, Ontario M2P 2A9.
