Will's obituary
William Stellan Maniatis died at home on February 18th after a 14-month long battle against acute myeloid leukemia. As the afternoon faded to evening he bravely laid down his sword, a warrior to the end, unafraid and at peace knowing he had fought the good fight and it was time to rest.
Will will be deeply missed by family and friends for all the reasons we loved him so; his sense of humor and contagious laugh, his wit and intelligence, his quiet leadership and unshakeable courage and for his care and loyalty to family and friends.
To know Will was to appreciate his steadfast nature and appreciation for honesty and integrity. He was wise beyond his years but at heart just a teenage boy who loved sports, hanging out with friends, being in high school, trips to the beach and celebrating any and all holidays.
Will is survived by his parents, Stuva and Claudia, and big brothers, Stathi and Jack. He also leaves behind grandparents, Bill and Billie Kay Maniatis and Robert and Jeanie Schultz as well as many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, dear friends and crazy pups Mohawk and Stokeley.
Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. on Thursday, February 27th at The Assumption Greek Orthodox Cathedral located at 4610 E. Alameda Ave., Denver, CO 80246. We will gather for a reception including a light meal and celebration of Will’s life immediately following- all are welcome! William will be buried in a private service at Fairmount Cemetery.
In light of Will’s inspirational battle against pediatric leukemia the family has created the WillStrong Foundation dedicated to raising awareness and funding for pediatric cancer research.
In lieu of flowers we kindly request memorial donations be made to the WillStrong Foundation in his honor. At this time the family prefers donations by check made to WillStrong Foundation and sent in c/o Claudia Maniatis to 7506 Indian Wells Way, Lone Tree CO 80124.
