William's obituary
William “Bill” W. Jones, 77, of Brandon, Mississippi, passed away peacefully at home on September 5, 2025, surrounded by his family.
Born in Boston, Massachusetts, on February 26, 1948, Bill was the son of the late William W. Jones Sr. and Florence Shelburne. He graduated from Wentworth Institute with a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and later earned his Master’s degree in Engineering from California State University–Dominguez Hills. Bill dedicated his professional career to Raytheon, where he worked until his retirement.
On March 22, 1969, Bill married the love of his life, Phyllis Jones, in Boston. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and countless memories.
Bill was admired for his wit, humor, and insightful nature. Soft-spoken yet impactful, he carried a presence that was both engaging and comforting. His sharp analytical mind and problem-solving spirit made him a source of wisdom to many, and he often reminded those around him of the importance of kindness and withholding judgment.
A man of many passions, Bill was a devoted sports fan, faithfully cheering on his New England teams—the Celtics, Patriots, Bruins, and Red Sox—as well as Mississippi State. He enjoyed bowling, collecting comic books and coins, and had a lifelong love for tinkering, building, and fixing things. Above all, he cherished time with his family, especially watching his grandsons play soccer and creating memories with his great-grandchildren.
For more than twenty years, Bill faced his health challenges with incredible strength and courage, never losing his determination. Through it all, he stayed deeply connected to his family, whose love was his greatest comfort.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Sr. and Florence, and his sister, Deborah Smith.
Bill is survived by his devoted wife, Phyllis Jones; his children, Michele Jones and William W. Jones III; his grandchildren, Kayla Sabo (wife, Tasha Sabo), Jordan Parron, and Joshua Parron (wife, Amber Parron); his niece, Maria Torres; his nephew, Martin Smith; and his beloved great-grandchildren, Layla Marie Parron, Sutton Jones Sabo, and Kylan Parron.
Bill will be remembered for his humor, his quiet strength, his problem-solving spirit, and, above all, his deep love for his family.
An intimate celebration of life will be held at Crestview Memorial Cemetery on Saturday, September 13th at 1 p.m., where family and friends will gather to honor and remember Bill.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Bill’s memory be made to the National Kidney Foundation:
