Red's obituary
William “Red” Gibson
October 10, 1949 – September 15, 2025
With profound sadness, we announce the passing of William “Red” Gibson, who left this world peacefully on September 15, 2025 in Hendersonville, TN. Known for his steady presence, kind heart, wicked dance moves, and deep devotion to his family, Red touched the lives of all who knew him.
Born on October 10, 1949, to Charles Junior Gibson and Faye O’Brian Gibson, Red grew up in Hopkinsville, Kentucky, and graduated with the Class of 1968. That same year, he began his career at Suburban Propane, where he was known for his hard work, customer service, and reliability. In 2000, he joined UPG (Little River Propane) and continued to build a respected career until his retirement in 2010.
Red was a man of simple joys and deep faith. He loved the classic sounds of Elvis Presley, the humor of The Andy Griffith Show and The Beverly Hillbillies, and cheering on the Big Blue Kentucky Wildcats. In his younger years, Red could often be found square dancing the night away, or fishing on a quiet afternoon, He always enjoyed catfish and an ice-cold Coke. Vacations with his son to Pigeon Forge brought him much happiness, and his love for the Lord guided him through life’s challenges.
Red’s greatest source of pride was his son, Erik. He was proud of his service to the United States Army, and Red spoke often of that pride and carried it with him always.
Red was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Junior Gibson and Faye O’Brian Gibson, and his brother, Jerry Wayne Gibson. He leaves behind his son, Erik Gibson, daughter-in-law, Rebecca Gibson, and granddaughter, Ava Gibson, who will carry on his memory with love and pride. Red is also survived by his brother, James Gibson.
Red’s legacy is one of faith, perseverance, and kindness. Though he has left our sight, his light continues to shine in the hearts of those who loved him. We take comfort in knowing he is now at peace, embraced by the Lord he loved so dearly, and dancing his heart out in Heaven.
