Andy's obituary
William Andrew Hargett, otherwise affectionately known as Andy, was born the first child of loving parents Bobby Gene and Martha Sue Hargett of Memphis, Tennessee on February 3rd, 1958. He became the oldest of four siblings and was a part of the large yet tight-knit Hargett, Prince, and Cloud families.
As he grew up, he made many friends, became a talented student athlete, and dabbled in music. In high school he excelled in competitive swimming. Later he showed an aptitude for mechanical engineering, just like his dad. His engineering career sent him all over the Midsouth and around the world. Locally he did work for the likes of Ellers, Oakley, Chester, and Rike; DuPont; Mapco Refinery; and Hilton Hotels. Internationally, he worked in Canada, Ireland, and Germany, but he was always happiest when he returned home.
Nothing was as important to Andy as faith and family. He spent time singing in church choir and volunteered behind the scenes for many a worship service. He played on and coached several church sports teams over the years. He was a dedicated member of First Global Methodist Church of Olive Branch and was active in their men’s community service group.
Andy was preceded in death by his parents, Bobby and Sue Hargett. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 36 years, Lisa Roseberry Hargett of Olive Branch, MS, and five daughters, Amanda Watson of Searcy, AR; Erin Robbins (Zach) of Bartlett, TN; Shelby Seymour (Kyle) of Coldwater, MS; Mackenzie Hargett of Olive Branch, MS; and Mallory Hargett of Nashville, TN. His pride and joy, his grandchildren, include Austin and London Robbins; Aidyn, Rylee, and Hollie Seymour; and Oliver, Holt (Anna), and Worth Watson. He is also survived by his brothers Alan Hargett (Jamie) and Jeff Hargett, his sister Melinda Hargett Tingle (Keith), his parents-in-law Glenn and Patricia Roseberry, and his brothers-in-law Van Roseberry (Karen) and Glenn Roseberry, Jr., as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Last but not least, his fur babies Bentley and Bella will miss him too.
Andy was the kind of husband and dad who coached his daughters’ sports teams, helped with school projects, took his family to the beach, and who could do everything from auto mechanics to home improvement. He was perhaps most infamous for ordering extra green sauce at Pancho’s, sharing memes on Facebook, and yelling Roll Tide. Ultimately he will be remembered as a kind, intelligent, outgoing, and funny man who loved deeply and was deeply loved. The hole he leaves behind cannot be filled, but his legacy lives on in his family. We will cry when we miss him, laugh when we tell his stories, and anxiously await the day that we will see him again.
