William's obituary
William James Gregory, III was born on April 23, 1980 in Cleveland to his mother Cassandra Gregory. He was named by his grandparents William Gregory II and Martha Gregory of Cleveland. Cassandra moved to Akron with her two children William and Natcole when Will was in middle school. It was at that time that he met his lifelong friends Daniel, Asa, Anthony, Leon, Dathon and Charles a few of whom became his roommates.
William attended Jennings Middle School and graduated from North High School in 1999. While in school he was a lineman on the football team. He also ran track. He also was a part of a Rock band called SOS. During high school he completed the Hospitality Management program that lead to his career at Darden Restaurants; Olive Garden and Applebee’s. He later worked at Gojo. With all his training, Will excelled in the kitchen. Food was his love language. He would whip up Ohio classics like Spaghetti and fish, southern favorites like glazed ham and collards or even a simple pot of beans and cornbread.
He was formerly married to Christine Howard, who he remained friends with. Will was his own man. He was genuine, strong and had a great personality. Some would even say he was the life of the party. He loved to crack jokes and make people laugh. He enjoyed spending time with his friends at JP‘s, Sweet Beats, Texas de Brazil or good ol’ Golden Corral. He was also a lover of good music and would send his friends songs every Friday. He would play Emu or blues on the juke box and share gospel music online.
Will could engage you in deep conversations about politics, faith, personal growth, community building and elevating others. He openly professed his faith in Jesus Christ and was saved. He was a member of Liberty Tabernacle. He was sometimes a quiet and very thoughtful man and considered the anchor of his friend group. In recent years, despite health challenges, Will cherished time spent with family in Florida and Atlanta.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents William Gregory II and Martha Gregory, his mother Cassandra Gregory and sister Natcole Gregory. He is survived by his aunts Demeatea Collins, Aleacer Tripp, Trish Cephus, Cousins Rachel, David, Erica, Kira, Eron, step-sister Donnie and step-father Henry, a host of dear family and friends.
He will be greatly missed and never forgotten.
Humbly submitted the family.
