William Fortenberry of Lyman SC passed away July 2 2023 suddenly due to a brief illness . William was born in Spartanburg July 2, 1956, to Shirley Pennington of Spartanburg S.C and Henry Nick  Fortenberry Jr. of Temple Georgia  .  I’m 

William was employed with Spartanburg Methodist College for 40 plus years with maintenance. He was a natural when it came to horticulture, something he enjoyed doing ever since he was young. I know the years of hard work put some strains on him. He was a hard worker and he put pride in everything he did.

William loved music, he loved Chicago, Neil Diamond, Kenny Rodgers and the Doobie Brothers. He loved being outside and doing things in his garage. he loved antiques and collecting old pictures. My daddy was hilarious, and he did have a soft side despite what some folks say. I am appreciative for every moment i got to spend on this earth with him. He will always hang the moon in my eyes regardless. 

William was married to Laura Peace where he fathered 3 children Kevin, Liza & April Fortenberry.

William was admitted into ICU after he was outside about to cut grass and he came in to take a nap because it started raining   and woke up not knowing where he was. He spent time there till they moved him to palliative care where he passed away on his birthday with Glioblastoma 7 days later.  So fast. Too damn fast. I miss my daddy so much.
