William's obituary

William "Fred" Ervin Jr, 70, of Chesapeake Beach, MD passed away on June 24, 2023 with his family by his side.

Fred was born April 29, 1953 to William F Ervin Sr & Lydia Emogene (Collier) Ervin. He grew up in Blue Mound, IL and graduated from Blue Mound High School in 1971. Fred married Jane Marquedant on Feb. 17, 2012 in Springfield, IL. After retiring, they lived in Venice, FL for a short time before moving to Maryland.

Fred lived life to the fullest. He loved to meet new people & didn't hesitate to strike up a conversation with a stranger, which often led to new friendships. He was a fan of music of all kinds, but the Blues had a special place in his heart. Fred loved the chance to break out his Blues harmonica and jam along with the band. And Holy Cow, he loved the Cubs!

Fred & Jane enjoyed attending art festivals, browsing antique shops, and walking along the Chesapeake Bay. They attended St. Paul Episcopal Church in Prince Frederick, MD. Fred cherished spending time with his grandchildren whether it be cheering at sporting events, watching plays & recitals, or simply watching them play in the yard.

Fred is survived & will be deeply missed by his wife Jane;  Daughters Melissa (Ervin) Wright of Greencastle, IN and Michelle Dyro (Peter) of Owings, MD; Grandchildren Shae Wright (Tony Clifton) of Decatur, IL and Moxie, Zephyr, Nova, and Juniper Dyro of Owings, MD; Brothers Bruce Ervin (Joy) of Webb City, MO and David Ervin (Liz) of Deland, FL; Sister Melva Justice (Chuck) of Mt. Auburn, IL;  as well as nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, & uncles. He was preceeded in death by his parents.

Fred's family would like to thank Maryland Hospice Services for their service and care. A Celebration of Life will take place on Sunday, July 16th from 12pm-3pm at the Blue Mound Civic Center. Please join us to share a meal & memories as we say Goodbye to Fred.
