William's obituary

Dr William Dewey Burns, Jr. passed away peacefully in the early hours at his residence in Ogden Utah on Tuesday, February 6, 2024. Bill was 79 years old. Children, grandchildren, and dear friends survive him.

William was born in Oklahoma City. His childhood years were in Dallas, Texas. He relocated to Salt Lake City to attend the University of Utah. He served a proselytizing mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the British Isles. He returned to graduate from the University of Utah with a degree in Psychology. He married Louise, née Goates, in 1967. William and his young family moved to Philadelphia where he attended dental school at Temple University. He returned to Utah to establish his dental practice and spent the greater part of his life working and residing in the Salt Lake valley.

William enjoyed science fiction. He liked shooting things: often with a camera, occasionally with a gun.

Always curious about science and medicine, William donated his body to the University of Utah medical school for the training of student doctors. This is a fitting last act of service to the field that fascinated both William and two of his sons, who pursued medical professions.
