William's obituary
It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of a beloved father, friend, and confidant, William "Bill" Smith, who departed this life on December 13, 2024. Born May 8, 1952, William lived a life full of wit, intelligence, and a loving nature that made him an unforgettable character to those who had the privilege to know him.
Known affectionately by many nicknames including Bill(y) Will(ie), and Nutty, William in the end preferred being referred to by his given name. His vibrant and nurturing personality was marked by a genuine wit that could light up even the gloomiest of rooms. Writing poems, singing a tune, playing cards, watching sports, or playing golf were his favorite things to do. A man of profound wisdom and intellect, his mantra for life was simple yet profound: "My happiness is my family. I practice being a person others love to be around! Carpe Diem!"
When it came to achievements, William firmly believed that his greatest accomplishment was his family. His admirable dedication towards his children was a testament of his selflessness and love. He is survived by his father John Smith (94), his wife and her family, his four children, five grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren. His loss will be deeply felt by all of those who knew him.
True to his spirit, William leaves behind a legacy of kindness and compassion. The indelible mark he made in the hearts of his loved ones will continue to inspire fond memories and meaningful life lessons. The void he leaves behind will be testament to the extraordinary life he led.
A Celebration of Life for William will be held on January 18, 2025, at 1:00 PM. The venue is 75 Saratoga Cove, Ruther Glen, VA. In accordance with his love for life, it will be a time to reminisce, to share stories, and to honor the wonderful man he was.
May his soul rest in peace, knowing that he lived an exemplary life, touched many hearts, and will continue to inspire us forever.
