William's obituary
William Ray Crouse III, 50, passed away on September 24, 2025, in Lake Wales, Florida. Born on April 10, 1975, in Fairmont, West Virginia, William brought joy and laughter to those around him throughout his life.
He was a devoted husband to Michelle Crouse and a proud father to his two daughters, Sarah Rutherford and Katrina Anne. William cherished his role as a grandfather to six grandchildren and found great joy in spending time with them. He also held close bonds with his siblings—three sisters: Kirsten Butterfield, Norma Waldrop, and Rebecca Dorman; and one brother, Michael Crouse. His extended family included three brothers-in-law: Bryan Butterfield, Chris Waldrop, and Douglas Dorman; and one sister-in-law, Kristy Crouse. He was also loved by numerous nieces and nephews who will remember him fondly.
William was preceded in death by his parents, William Ray Crouse Jr. and Michael Ann Scanlan.
Known for his infectious sense of humor and generous spirit, William had a unique ability to lift the spirits of those around him. Whether it was through a shared laugh or a heartfelt conversation over a game of cards with friends, he made lasting impressions on everyone he met.
A passionate fan of NASCAR and wrestling, William never missed an opportunity to cheer on his favorite drivers or catch the latest match. He was also a die-hard supporter of Florida State University athletics. These passions were more than hobbies—they were ways he connected with others and celebrated life’s simple pleasures.
Above all else, William valued time spent with loved ones. His presence at family gatherings brought warmth and laughter that will be deeply missed but forever remembered.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in William’s name to Relay for Life, a cause close to his heart.
May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him. A Celebration of Life will be held on October 11, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 04:00 PM at Cypress Cathedral Apartments 1601 Havendale Blvd, Winter Haven, Fl 33881.
