Susan, it is hard to believe your brother died three years ago. I know you have a lifetime of memories of him. Sending love.

HI Collins Family,

I am sorry this is coming to you so late.   I just learned of your Dad's passing through a Va. Tech publication.

I was a roommate of your Dad's our Sophomore and Junior years at VPI. I have many good memories of our time together, but it seemed he spent a good amount of time in Radford! I wonder why.; Ha.  I also knew your Mom whom I was very fond of also.  I think I  only saw your Dad once after we graduated when I visited him in the VT  Extension Dept. I saw and was in contact with your Mom more frequently when she was in the  athletic ticket office where she helped me more times than I can say. I was sorry to see from your Dad's obituary that he had many health problems before he passed. That must have been so difficult for you all. Best wishes,

Chuck Hughes VT CE '58

I've dreaded this day because it only renews my sense of loss.  I can't believe it's been a year since he passed.  He is always with me, though.

My dear brother was special.  We didn't grow up together since he was 9 years older, but he was always "my big brother," even as adults.   Always concerned about me, whether it was waiting up for me to return late from a high school date because of a flat tire (with a few stern words for my date!) or following close behind to protect us as Joe and I walked down the streets of Medellin, Colombia.  He was always checking in on me and was always concerned if any of us were sick.  He was my rock--I could always depend on him for wisdom, support, and love.

My big brother was so smart and multi-talented (and handsome--he got that Hylton gene from our mother, unlike me).  I really miss him!

The sweetest thing Bill did with me was to help me make his bed. Then afterwards he went back and tucked his blanket on it. He then came and got me and he was so excited, he said I have something for you to see. He got me by my hand and took me to his bedroom and showed me his bed. He then said in a very excited, proud voice, I thought you'd be proud of me! He was soooo proud and precious!! I have thought of all our precious moments since hearing of his passing. I love Bill and all of his wonderful family.
Lynne I am so sorry to hear of your dad’s passing. Please know we will have you in our prayers. Take care of yourself. Love to you. Rhonda Kinsey

My brother and I were sad to read about Bill's passing. We were one of his many farm friends that he helped with building plans for a " Bill Collins - VA Tech Counter Slop Heifer Barn" Great Barn Design and even better Man. GOD Speed !! Curtis and Mark Sowers - Floyd, VA
To the Collin’s family: We were saddened to read of Bill’s and Lou’s passing. I have fond memories of them both from my years as the Golf Professional at Blacksburg C.C. They were both avid golfers and I would see there friendly faces regularly. Thoughts and 🙏s to you all.
So sorry to hearbof Bill's passing. Sending love and prayers.
