William's obituary
William had dedicated his life to assisting those who were in need, and he spent over 20 years working at Dixon Hall. He was an anchor at many of Dixon Hall’s programs, starting in 2001 as a shelter worker at School House, the Out of the Cold program, Heyworth House, and 65 Dundas Street East.
William's sudden passing leaves a void that cannot be filled, and the loss will linger for quite some time. The team described William as kind-hearted, supportive, well-loved, respected by clients and agency partners, and a staple presence in the Shelter and Respite programs. His team at 65 Dundas Street East has shared stories of how William loved his morning coffees and how he shared that love with many of his co-workers, bringing them coffees during their morning shifts. The team shared that during shifts, William would often discuss and share his life stories, his passion for social work and his own journey with reconciliation as a member of the First Nation’s community and that those life experiences were instrumental in shaping who he was as a person and a dedicated shelter worker.
William was more than a colleague; to many, he will forever be remembered as a mentor, a friend, and family.
