William Bryant Chapman passed away peacefully on October 16, 2025, at home. He was born, raised, and educated in Ayden, North Carolina. He attended North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University and then joined the US Army, serving from 1953 until 1984 and attaining the rank of Sergeant Major. During his service, William met and married the love of his life, Alice Chapman (Thompson). He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Survivors include daughters Teresa Chapman-Jones (Samuel Jones); Monica Oldham (Charles Oldham); Marcia Chapman (Kenneth Knott); son, William Jr. (Meshell Warren); a brother, Roosevelt Chapman; and five granddaughters, one grandson, a great grand-daughter, a great-grandson, and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his family, his passions included golf, fishing, collecting LPs and cameras, making wine, crossword puzzles, Stephen King, Carlos Santana, blues and jazz.
