(William) Bruce's obituary

(William) Bruce Martin, 80, died peacefully at Agrace Hospice Center in Fitchburg, WI on February 15, 2024. Bruce enjoyed working and living in Chicago until retiring to Madison in 2020. Always on the lookout for things odd, satirical, or even sardonic, Bruce created art from objects and curiosities he found in the alleys and thrift stores of the city. A kind, good-natured soul, he most enjoyed simple pleasures like reading in the sunroom, riding his bike to work along Lake Michigan, watching World Wide Wrestling, or taking in Chicago's north side restaurants, art fairs, and movies with his spouse, Bridgid Michaud, who survives him.

Bruce was born on Jan. 10, 1944 in the Roslyn neighborhood of Chicago, IL to Dorothy Martin (Crowther) and William Martin. Bruce is also survived by his sister, Bonnie Johnson, and brother-in-law, Allen Johnson of Houston Texas, and the Michaud siblings, Kate, Mary (Kevin McDermott), Bernie (Mary), Matt (Nancy), Nick (Jennifer Klinkhammer) and sister-in-law Connie, spouse of the late Peter Michaud. Bruce also served as a founding member of the MILC Club (Michaud In-Law Club) and is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. All will miss his friendly repartee.
