William “Bill” Thomas Ball
CANTON - William “Bill” Thomas Ball
Bill unexpectedly passed away, on Saturday, August 2, 2025, in Tularosa, New Mexico. He was surrounded by his semi with Sam (his furbaby) and friends.
Bill, “Squeaky,” will be remembered for his kindness and helping nature, always there to help someone out for whatever they needed. He drove a semi-truck and trailer across the country for most of his life, but he always made time to call those who he cared about, checking on their health and the latest news.
Bill was involved in ABATE in Florida for a number of years (2009-2012). He held the position of Southeast Chapter "Quartermaster" and he helped with anything that needed done on the State level. He received Volunteer of the Year and the President's Award on the State level for his work. He loved woodworking and made the sign for the VFW in Davie, Florida and plaques for the ABATE Fill-in Band. He loved camping and being the all-around fix it person for everyone.
Bill also won the Million Mile Award, in 2022, for driving over 1,000,000 miles.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, William H. and Bonny L. (nee Raines) Ball. He was born on January 26, 1962. He is survived by his brothers Brian D. (Elaine Schaffran) Ball of North Canton, Ohio and Robert C. (Sharyn) Ball of Oviedo, Florida, and fiancé, Valerie Swegheimer-Loper of Canton, Ohio. He enjoyed spending time with his Uncle Don Raines and Aunt Shirley, and special cousin Kevin. He is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends from all over the United States.
Bill was a Veteran of the United States Army, and he will be interred with honors at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, in Seville, Ohio, on September 11, 2025 (2:30 PM).
