Wilhelmina's obituary
Wilhelmina Elizabeth Campbell (Cook), 71 of Kannapolis, NC departed this life on September 26th, 2021. Born in Springfield Massachusetts to the late Elizabeth (Moon) and Ralph Cook, she was one of six children. She was adopted at the age of 6 and raised by her beloved parents, Dupree and Virginia (Jones) Moon of Hartford, Connecticut. Wilhelmina was a graduate of Weaver High School, class of 1968 and the University of Hartford, Class of 1992 where she earned her Bachelor’s degree in Communications. She spent most of her life in Hartford, Connecticut and served diligently with the Mt. Calvary Baptist Church (where she was baptized) until her relocation in 1994 to Buffalo, NY. She spent her entire professional career working in Human Resources and held numerous management positions. Prior to her retirement in 2009, her most recent employer was Faro Technologies in Lake Mary, FL. Wilhelmina was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church of Kannapolis, NC. She was also a committed member of the Criterion Civic Club of Eustis, FL where she volunteered in community service. She was a dedicated volunteer with the Department of Elderly Affairs (SHINE Program) where she assisted seniors with Medicare challenges. She was the Director of the Ethel Estelle Campbell Scholarship Foundation for 6 years. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Jesse. She also leaves to cherish her memory, one daughter, Kelly Campbell of Concord, NC., and one son, Jesse Campbell of Los Angeles, CA, one grandchild: Naomi Campbell of Concord, three sisters: Doris Houghton, Anne Baymon (Fred) and Stella Lyons all of Springfield, Mass; 2 brothers, Horace (Elaine) of Jacksonville, FL and Albert Moon (Margie) of Hartford, Ct, and her Campbell Family: Ethel Mae Ford, Carol Jenkins, Dorothy Earle (Victor), Edgar Campbell (Gloria), Benjamin Campbell, Daniel Campbell (Rae), Norris Horton (Faye)—and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
A wake and viewing will be held at Bethel Baptist Church in Concord, NC on October 7th at 5 PM.
Memorial service celebrating her life will be held at 11:00 AM on October 8th with Reflection hour beginning at 10:00 AM at Bethel Baptist Church.
