Wilburn's obituary
Wilburn Elton Franklin Jr., 76, departed this earthly life peacefully on Friday December 12, 2025, in the comfort of his home in Memphis, Tennessee.
Wilburn was born on November 11, 1949, in Memphis to Wilburn Franklin Sr and Melvillene Franklin. Wilburn was employed as a dump truck operator and lead man at David Moore Enterprises for over 50 years until his retirement in 2018. He enjoyed working in the excavation and grading industry and made many long-time friends and colleagues during these years.
An avid Nascar fan, he also enjoyed spending time with family including trips to Iowa, Missouri and Florida. He loved to attend semi-truck expos/shows and talking all things trucks and heavy equipment.
Wilburn will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 34 years, Beth Franklin; 4 sons - Kevin Franklin (Tracy) of Highlands, North Carolina; Richard Franklin (Myra) of Memphis, Tennessee; Phillip Franklin (Stephanie) of Miami, Florida; Jerrod Collins (Mindy) of West Liberty, Iowa. 1 daughter, Karen King (Ben) of Hickory Flat, Mississippi.
He is also survived by 1 sister Gwen Permenter of Bartlett, Tennessee, 1 brother Johnny Mac Franklin of Memphis, Tennessee and 7 grandchildren: Ryan Franklin, Taylor Rickert, Drake Collins, Kiley Collins, Briggs Collins, Dallas King and Henry Franklin.
Wilburn is preceded in death by his parents Wilburn Franklin Sr. and Melvillene Franklin, sister Dorris Neighbors, son in law Ben King, and grandson Treyton Collins.
