Wilbur's obituary

Wilbur "Willy" Windsor Hummel, 90, of Crystal River, FL, passed away on November

17, 2023. He was born on April 7, 1933, Boonville, Missouri.

Willy, as he was fondly known, led a remarkable life dedicated to service. He proudly

served in the US Navy for 20 years. Four years active duty during the Korean War

stationed aboard the USS Gardiners Bay, a sea plane tender, and the USS Batann, a

light aircraft carrier. After his active duty service, he joined the Navy Reserves SeaBee

battalion 1973 - 1989, retiring honorably.

Wilbur also had a successful civilian career spanning over six decades. He was a 63-

year member of the Pipe Fitters Local 533 in Kansas City, Missouri. Wilbur's expertise

led him to work on several pipelines and power plant projects, developing exceptional

skills and dedication to his craft. In the early 1970s, he transitioned into the commercial

refrigeration field. He will be remembered for his strong work ethic, attention to detail,

and unwavering dedication to his profession.

Outside of his professional life, Wilbur cherished spending quality time with his loved

ones. He was a devoted family man, always ready to offer his support and guidance.

Wilbur also enjoyed trying many different activities. Gun enthusiast, shooting

competitions, hunting, boating, fishing, scuba diving, cruising yard sales, bike riding, or

zip lining through the jungles of Costa Rica.Wilbur "Willy" Windsor Hummel leaves behind a legacy of hard work, integrity, fun and

love. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all those fortunate enough to

have known him.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara, children, Bruce and his wife Ledis, Lisa and her

husband Nolan. Granddaughter's Rianna and Farrah. Farrah's husband Matt and their

daughters Florence (Flo) and Francis (Frankie).

A private funeral service will be held to honor Wilbur’s life and his contributions. The

family kindly requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to a charity of your

choice in his memory.

offering our heartfelt condolences to his family during this difficult time.
