Weston's obituary
Weston Roy Campbell C.G.A., was a beloved son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, great-great grandfather, and uncle during his incredible 95 years. Roy passed away peacefully in his sleep on May 14, 2024.
Roy was born on August 27, 1928, to Weston Skeena (deceased) and Phoebe Campbell (deceased) in Black Cape, Quebec. Roy was the 2nd of 5 children. Roy is survived by his sister Mary and predeceased by brothers, Burns, David, and Willie (Gail). The young family’s resilience was tested early, when at the age of 10 Roy was in a car accident that tragically took the life of his father.
After graduating from Quebec High School, he went on to study accounting at Queen’s University. After moving to Toronto in 1950 to work as an accountant he met his best friend and love of his life Margaret, they married and moved to Scarborough. Not long after they began their family having three boys, Wes, Robert, and Mark. Eventually he opened his own accounting firm and moved to Bramalea, there they had their fourth son Kirk. For the next 70 years he was an accomplished accountant, serving many in the Peel region.
In addition to his career Roy was an avid member of the community. He was a devoted and adored member of Bramalea Baptist Church. He and Margaret cherished hosting bible study. He was also a long-standing member of Optimist International. He was one of the founding members of the Brampton chapter, and president of the Scarborough chapter. Roy and Margaret are lovingly remembered for their epic pool parties. Anyone and everyone were always welcome in their home.
Roy was a staunch supporter of sport especially the Toronto Blue Jays, and Toronto Maple Leafs. He was instrumental in bringing the Junior B team The Blues to Bramalea. Some of Roy’s favourite times were spent cheering on his children and grandchildren in their various sporting events. His family meant more to him than anything else in the world and he was unendingly proud of his four children. He made sure that each one had every opportunity available to them and he was very proud of that as well.
There isn’t a dog or cat (Champ) that Roy met that he didn’t love. Every dog that came into his house was spoiled; he would sneak whatever he was eating under the table to them. He always said his way of honouring dogs was to give them tons of love (food).
Roy lived with dementia for the last five years of his life. He battled the disease with the most amazing grace, bravery and strength. He lived everyday with positivity and determination.
Everyone who knew Roy knew that he was an extremely kind, loving, gentle and peaceful person, and that he loved his family very much. He is survived by his sons, Wes (Carol), Robert (Edna), Mark (Lucy), Kirk (Tammy); grandchildren, Brett (Cherie), Jesse, Darlene (Dave), James (Karisa), Shawn, Bella, Robert, Christiana, Matthew, Erin; great grandchildren, Wyatt, Lilah, Leo, Alexandria (Paul), Ben (Tenny), Winter; great-great grandchildren, Jaxon, Alexis.
In addition to his wife, parents and brothers, Roy was preceded in death by his great grandchild, Dhillon, and great-great grandchild Jakob.
At the request of Roy cremation has taken place. There will be a memorial/celebration of life on Monday September 9th. This will be an open house beginning at 12:00pm at the home of Kirk and Tammy in Grimsby.
