Wes's obituary
Wesley Ray Wasson left this earth on December 10, 2023, at age 57. Even as he so admirably fought his last battle against cancer, he never lost sight of the things that were most important to him—giving all he had to love God and love people, especially those others may overlook. He used his witty sense of humor, wide knowledge base, and genuine interest in people to mentor and encourage others to achieve their own excellence.
Wes had unparalleled business savvy and charisma. He spent the first part of his career thriving as a marketing executive of many large and successful tech companies, being named “Top Executive Leader in Silicon Valley” in 2010.
Despite his success in business, Wes knew his calling was ultimately to use his experience and God-given gifts to pour his heart, time, and resources into the less fortunate. He co-founded DreamStart Labs, which is breaking the poverty cycle across 29 countries worldwide by empowering entrepreneurs, mostly women, to reach their dreams.
As a leader and teacher in his church, he wanted people to know how loved they were by God and to inspire people to live like Jesus.
He was always seeking to truly know God’s heart and responded by sharing that unconditional love with others abroad and in his own community.
Above all, Wes loved and was loved by his wife (Heidi), children (Renée and Mark), mother (Sue), sisters (Tammy, Bonnie, and Kimberly), grandchildren, and many other family members, friends, mentees, and countless people whose lives he deeply impacted.
Though many are grieving his death and feel a deep hole where he once was, we take comfort in knowing that he has faithfully lived out the mission and purpose he was created for and is now in his eternal home with Jesus.
