Wes's obituary

Wes Gennaro Ianni was a kind, quiet person whose dry Slate Belt wit and laugh are imprinted in the hearts of those who had the luck to know him.

Wes kept a low, simple profile. A reliable and supportive teammate, you could find him Saturdays at PDX Ballhockey or Thursdays late into the evening playing softball with the Mighty Wombats. His diligence extended to his work, and he was grateful to find a great match in the team at Tumac, who recognized his constancy and supported his growth and comfort. Along the way, he made great friends at Perkins & Co., the job that brought him to Portland in 2015, as well as at PwC in Pittsburgh after college and later at Banfield in Vancouver, WA. In high school, Wes was proud to have worked with friends at Stockertown Beverage and as a janitor for the local school district, describing “fine dining Fridays” with the utmost affection. He was a humble and beautiful soul.

Wes knew how to have a good time and had an amazing group of friends that began in his hometown of Pen Argyl, PA and grew during his years at Pitt. He balanced that fun with an incredible gentleness, raising a heap of pets with his wife Jackie, especially his beloved shoulder cat, Peeb. The man would literally take a spider outside rather than harm it. He was a good guy, always the first on the block to put out the trash for pickup day. A great travel buddy, he and Jackie shared adventures throughout Oregon, Pennsylvania, California, Canada, London, Italy, Norway, and many MLB ballparks.

He is missed deeply by all who knew him, including his wife, pets, family, and friends.

We carry Wes with us as we go to a ballgame (“lol Mets”), pet a cat, eat an anchovy or pickle, toss a quoit, or watch It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

We miss you, Wes. Always.
