Webster's obituary

Webster Garfield Ballard, Beloved Patriarch,  and a retired servicemember in the U.S .Navy , Passes Away at 85.

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Webster announces his passing on February 20th, 2024, at the age of 85. He leaves behind a legacy of love, wisdom, and cherished memories that will forever be etched in the hearts of those who knew him.

Born in Westover, Maryland, to his late mother Loretta Ballard, Webster lived a life defined by integrity, kindness, and unwavering dedication to his family. His presence brought warmth and joy to all who had the privilege of knowing him.

He married Delores Somerville, born to James Somerville and Alberta McKinney in Richmond, Virginia on February 13th, 1962. 

Throughout his Webster exemplified resilience and determination. He served his country honorably, demonstrating bravery and selflessness in the face of adversity. His commitment to duty and service was a testament to his character and sense of duty.

At the Commonwealth Memorial's 59th Annual Memorial Day Ceremony at The Virginia War Memorial, Webster, the 2015 president of the Military Retirees Club of Richmond, led the pledge of  allegiance on May 25th, 2015. following patriotic music played by the 392nd Army Band of Fort Lee.

Webster Ballard was the anchor that held his loved ones together. His wisdom, guidance, and unwavering support were constants in the lives of his family and friends. Whether offering sage advice, sharing stories of days gone by, or simply lending a listening ear, he had a profound impact on all who sought his counsel.

Webster will be fondly remembered for his quick wit, infectious laughter, and boundless love for his family. His legacy will live on through the countless lives he touched and the values he instilled in those he held dear.

He is survived by many family members, including grandchildren and close friends he considered to be family.
