Wayne's obituary
Wayne Leroy Wilcox, age 85, of Appleton, Wisconsin passed away peacefully at home after a long battle with cancer on Sunday, February 19, 2023. Wayne was born to Everett and Edith (Neuschaefer) Wilcox on January 24, 1938 in New London.
In 1954, Wayne met the love of his life at a drive-in theater and married Marlene Mary Stiebs on July 20, 1957. Their 65+ year love affair produced two children. His son Scott and his daughter Monica.
As one of Jehovah’s Witnesses, Wayne enjoyed sharing his Bible-based hope with others. He had a strong faith in the ransom sacrifice of Christ Jesus. He looked forward to a future without pain, suffering, and death under Christ’s rulership. His hope of a resurrection to unending life on that beautiful paradise earth was well-founded.
He loved the Grand Ole Opry and was musically inclined, playing many instruments by ear. Wayne was a dedicated family man. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. His family will always remember the toboggan rides, biking through town, raising the family with spiritual values, and a good work ethic. He was a good provider, working 43 years at Appleton Mills. After his retirement, he enjoyed his sheep dogs, Amanda Lynn, and Sophie, and taking them for many walks with his mobile chair.
He is survived by his wife, Marlene. His son and his wife, Jody, and their daughter Michaela. His daughter and her husband, Duane McPherson. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Lonnie, Mike, and his sister Susan
Wayne’s family would like to thank relatives and friends for their loving support, along with the staff at ThedaCare Hospice in Appleton.
