Wayne's obituary
Wayne Murray, family man, loving husband to Norma, Father to Stuart, Scott and Malinda. A true Texan, Professional Engineer, and Texas Tech Lifetime fan. Wayne died peacefully on August 7, 2023, in his hometown of Buda, Texas. He was born and raised in Texarkana, Texas, the youngest son of Henry and Eva Murray. During high school, he played football and showed some talent, but quickly decided he would make a better coach than a player. But a sharp teacher recognized his high test scores and suggested he try engineering instead. So off to college at Texas Tech University in Lubbock, where he received his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and a lifelong love of Texas Tech Red Raiders!! Then he married Norma, his gorgeous high school sweetheart! They proceeded to raise a family of three and this past year celebrated 64 years together.
After college, with a B.S. in Engineering, Wayne’s went to work first at NASA in Huntsville, Alabama as a mechanical engineer. Later, he moved the family to Chester, Va. to work for Allied Chemical in Hopewell, VA as a safety engineer. In 1978, Wayne packed up the family and hit the road to a new position as an assistant plant engineer at Allied Chemical in Green River, Wyoming. A wonderful adventure, buy he didn't want to stay, so in 1979, he began work on his dream of owning his own engineering business.
After trial and error, at age 73, with the help of his sons Stuart and Scott, Wayne created a successful engineering business, MA Engineers, Inc., where he was the Owner and Principal Engineer. He helped the community of Cloverleaf, Texas improve its water systems and made many wonderful friends and colleagues along the way.

Wayne is survived by his beloved wife Norma, the love of his life for 64 years, his children; Stuart W. Murray, daughter-in-law, Cathy Murray, son Scott Murray and daughter Malinda Murray Landry and son-in-law Robert D. Landry, Jr.
He leaves his brother, Lynn Murray of Austin, and sister Barbara Gilbert of Texarkana. His brother Herbert Murray of Texarkana and his sister, Lawanna Barnett of Dallas, passed before him.
